A good cogent article. As for mask wearing, though, mask use is not only prescribed, but when it's actually practised it's often practised badly. People use the same disposable mask or the same unwashed reuseble mask repeatedly. They touch it repeatedly, pull it down, pull it back up, take it off and put it on again without hand washing. Imagine doing similar with the same condom...

Covid may have a low mortality rate for the general population, but it spreads more easily than HIV.

"the party that is by and for (rich) straight white men — more than half have said they won’t take the COVID-19 vaccine. The lack of perspective, the stubborn childishness of so many privileged individuals is absolutely astonishing." This comment just made me say, so let them not take the vaccine, let them not wear the mask, there will be less of them a year from now. It is not the right way to think or be but it is what came to mind when I read it.

I'm a bisexual white conservative male. I have HIV and have had COVID-19. I am over 40. It was a bad cold for me. Your article can be summed up as, "If I can't bareback because of a disease with a 99.9% mortality rate, why can't you get a vaccine for a disease with a 99% survival rate?" There isn't enough room here to fully and effectively dismantle your dangerous, woke rhetoric. I can say that without the "straight white men" there would be fewer treatments and clinics available to treat HIV.
